Garage door invoicing software that reduces paperwork
The garage door invoicing software that cuts the most paperwork builds the invoice from the quote you already wrote, so nothing is typed twice. Claver and Jobber keep the quote, the visit, the invoice and the payment on one customer record; invoice-only apps such as Invoice Simple and Square cost less but take only the billing step off paper.
Claver makes this page, and Claver is one of the options. Competitor prices come from each company's own pricing page, last checked September 27, 2026.
Which garage door invoicing software reduces the most paperwork?
It depends on how much of the job you want off paper. An invoice-only app removes one step. A field service app removes the retyping between steps: quote, job, invoice, payment and bookkeeping. The table puts seven tools side by side.
| Software | Type | Starting price | What it takes off paper | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Claver | Field service app | $19/mo (Starter, 2 users); Crew $39/mo (8 users); Business $79/mo (20 users) | Line items on an approved quote carry into the job. Customers approve quotes and pay in a portal with no login. Card payments through Stripe online and in the field, and a deposit or full payment at booking. | Tap to Pay and native iOS and Android apps are coming soon. Digital signatures, change orders, progress invoicing and QuickBooks Online sync start on Crew ($39/mo). |
| Jobber | Field service app | $49/mo for 1 user (Core), or $29/mo billed annually; Connect $199/mo for up to 5 users | Books jobs, quotes and invoices in one app, with online booking and a client hub on every plan. QuickBooks Online and Xero sync from Connect. | Core has no QuickBooks sync. Optional add-ons and markups on quotes, and job costing, start on Grow ($299/mo for up to 5 users). |
| Housecall Pro | Field service app | $79/mo for 1 user (Basic) | Basic lists online booking, scheduling and dispatch, estimates and invoicing. QuickBooks Online sync starts on Essentials ($229/mo for 1 user). | Prices appear only after a quiz about your trade and team size. Extra users cost $100/mo each on Essentials and $75/mo on Max team plans. |
| Workiz | Field service app | Quote only, no public pricing | QuickBooks Online sync, a client portal, a price book and Workiz Pay for online payments and tap to pay. | No public prices; its phone system and AI answering are sold separately. |
| Garage Door Matrix | Garage-door-specific app | $19.99/mo for 1 user (Starter, launch pricing; $39.99/mo regular) | A spring calculator and site-check and inspection forms for opening sizes, headroom, back framing and wiring status. | Launch pricing is about half the regular price, and its trial is gated to approved companies. We did not verify its invoicing features. |
| Invoice Simple | Invoice-only app | $6.99/mo for 3 invoices a month (Essentials); Premium $21.99/mo, unlimited | Plus ($14.99/mo, 10 invoices a month) adds photos, your signature and due-date reminders. Premium adds client signatures and deposits. | Built for billing, not running jobs: its plans list no scheduling or dispatch. The caps on Essentials and Plus are tight for a busy week. |
| Square Invoices | Invoice-only app | $0/mo per location (Free); Plus $49/mo per location | Invoices, recurring invoices, estimates and contracts on the Free plan. You pay processing fees of 2.6% + 15¢ in person and 3.3% + 30¢ online. | Its invoicing pricing page lists no job scheduling or dispatch, and the paid plans are priced per location. |
Last verified September 27, 2026 from each company's public pricing page: Jobber, Housecall Pro, Workiz, Garage Door Matrix, Invoice Simple and Square. Housecall Pro shows its prices after a short quiz about your trade and team size; the figures here are from its HVAC result. Prices change, so check the source before you buy.
How we compared these tools
We compared published prices, plan limits and features from each vendor's own pricing page, as last checked on September 27, 2026. We did not test the apps hands-on or survey their users, so nothing here ranks tools on ease of use or support. Where a company publishes no price, we say so instead of estimating one.
The seven tools cover three kinds of software: field service apps (Claver, Jobber, Housecall Pro and Workiz), a garage-door-specific app (Garage Door Matrix) and invoice-only apps (Invoice Simple and Square). ServiceTitan and FieldEdge are in our broader garage door software guide but not here, because we have not verified their invoicing features. Claver's plan details come from Claver's own product.
Where does the paperwork on a garage door job come from?
Much of it is the same information entered more than once. The quote becomes a work order, the work order becomes an invoice, and the invoice is entered a third time in the books. Software cuts paperwork by carrying one record through those steps. The table shows where Claver does that, and which plan each step starts on.
| Step | What gets retyped | What carries it forward in Claver | Starts on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quote to job | The approved line items, address and notes | An approved quote becomes a job with its line items, total, address and notes already filled in, and the customer's usual tech assigned. | Starter ($19/mo) |
| Customer approval | A signed copy of the quote | Customers approve quotes in a portal with no login. Crew adds digital signatures on quotes and good-better-best proposals. | Portal: Starter. Signatures and proposals: Crew ($39/mo) |
| Parts and labor lines | The same springs, cables and rollers, typed onto every quote | A pre-loaded garage door price book: a service call, spring pairs, cables, rollers, hinges, panels and track realignment. | Crew ($39/mo). On Starter you build your own price book. |
| Payment | A receipt and a deposit record | Card payments through Stripe online and in the field, a deposit or full payment at booking, and several cards on file. | Starter ($19/mo) |
| Mid-job changes | A new price when a part has to be reordered | Change orders the customer approves, and progress invoicing by milestone for bigger jobs. | Crew ($39/mo) |
| Bookkeeping | The finished invoice and payment, typed into QuickBooks | QuickBooks Online sync pushes the customer, the line-item invoice, the payment and any refund when a job is completed or paid. | Crew ($39/mo) |
Tap to Pay and native iOS and Android apps are coming soon, so today a Claver invoice is created and paid from the browser. The QuickBooks sync is one-way: nothing is pulled back from QuickBooks, and the chart of accounts, vendors and bills are not synced.
Where does QuickBooks Online sync start?
Retyping invoices into the books is paperwork too. Workiz includes QuickBooks Online sync on every plan but publishes no price. Claver adds it on Crew at $39/mo, Jobber on Connect at $199/mo and Housecall Pro on Essentials at $229/mo.
| Software | First plan with QuickBooks Online sync | Price of that plan |
|---|---|---|
| Claver | Crew | $39/mo for up to 8 users |
| Jobber | Connect | $199/mo for up to 5 users ($149/mo billed annually) |
| Housecall Pro | Essentials | $229/mo for 1 user |
| Workiz | Every plan | Not published; request pricing |
Which garage door invoicing software should you choose?
Choose by how many steps you want off paper, and by whether you also schedule jobs. If you only bill, an invoice-only app is the cheaper route. If you quote, dispatch and bill, a field service app removes the retyping between steps.
- A few invoices a month, no scheduling. Square Free costs nothing but card fees, and Invoice Simple Essentials is $6.99/mo for 3 invoices a month.
- Billing every week, no scheduling. Invoice Simple Premium ($21.99/mo) has no invoice cap.
- Quoting, booking and invoicing in one place. Claver Starter ($19/mo, 2 users) and Jobber Core ($49/mo for 1 user, or $29/mo billed annually) both do it.
- Invoices that land in QuickBooks without retyping. Claver Crew ($39/mo, 8 users), Jobber Connect ($199/mo for up to 5 users) or Housecall Pro Essentials ($229/mo for 1 user). Workiz includes the sync on every plan, with no published price.
- Big installs paid in stages. Claver has progress invoicing and customer-approved change orders on Crew ($39/mo), and Square Plus ($49/mo per location) has payment schedules.
- Garage-door-specific forms. Garage Door Matrix has site-check and inspection forms and a spring calculator. Confirm its invoicing features before you buy.

What should a garage door business look for in invoicing software?
Look past the entry price to whether the invoice comes from the quote, where payment happens and where the books sync. Those three decide how much gets typed twice.
- Does the invoice come from the quote? Ask whether line items carry from the approved quote into the job and the invoice, or get typed again. In Claver they carry over.
- Where does payment happen? Check whether customers can pay from the invoice, in a portal, and in the field. Claver takes card payments online and in the field; Tap to Pay is coming soon.
- Where does QuickBooks sync start? It sits on a different plan in each tool: Workiz includes it on every plan, while Housecall Pro starts it on Essentials. See the table above.
- Is there an invoice cap? Cheap invoice-only plans cap invoices, such as 3 a month on Invoice Simple Essentials. Count a busy month, not a slow one.
- Whether a promotional price will hold. If a vendor labels its pricing a launch rate, like Garage Door Matrix does, confirm the regular price and how long the discount lasts.
- Getting your data out. Make sure you can export customers, jobs and invoices as CSV files if you switch tools later. Our guide to invoicing apps for contractors compares invoice caps and card fees in more detail, and there is a free invoice template if you want to start on paper.
