Where is Housecall Pro better than Workiz?
Housecall Pro is better if you want to know the price before a sales call. It also puts proposals, memberships, equipment tracking and flat-rate pricing on its middle plan rather than its top one.
- Prices you can see. One-user and team prices, and the fee for each extra user, are on the pricing page after the quiz.
- Tools for larger jobs sooner. Proposals, memberships, equipment tracking and flat-rate pricing are on Essentials. On Workiz they're on Ultimate.
- Longer trial. 14 days on the Max plan, against Workiz's 7 days. Neither needs a credit card.
Where is Workiz better than Housecall Pro?
Workiz puts QuickBooks Online sync on its entry plan, and it publishes a detailed table of what each plan includes and leaves out. It also sells an integrated phone system, Genius Phone, as a separate add-on.
- QuickBooks on the entry plan. Standard includes QuickBooks Online sync. On Housecall Pro it starts on Essentials.
- A full plan table. Workiz shows what each plan includes and leaves out, row by row, including automation limits of 5, 10 and 30. Housecall Pro lists what each plan adds over the one below.
- Phone tools. Genius Phone adds call tracking, AI insights and two-way texting, and Genius Answering adds multilingual AI answering with live transfer. Both are sold separately.
Should I choose Housecall Pro or Workiz?
Choose Housecall Pro if you want published prices and tools for larger jobs on its middle plan. Get a Workiz quote if QuickBooks sync on the entry plan and its phone and answering add-ons matter more, then compare the written total.
Pick Housecall Pro if
You want to budget without a sales call, and you sell larger jobs with proposals, memberships and equipment tracking.
Pick Workiz if
You want QuickBooks sync from the first plan, a detailed plan table and a phone system from the same vendor, and you're happy to get a quote.
Look at a third option if
You're a small team and want published prices with users included. Claver is covered below.
Is there a cheaper option for small teams?
Claver is a third option. Claver is field service software for small home-service businesses: scheduling, quotes, invoicing, payments and customer texting, with users included in one flat monthly price. Starter is $19/mo for 2 users, Crew is $39/mo for 8 and Business is $79/mo for 20.
- Where it fits. QuickBooks Online sync, job costing, good-better-best proposals and two-way texting are on Crew. A phone line and AI receptionist are on Business.
- Where it's weaker. Native iOS and Android apps are coming soon, so today it runs as an installable web app. Tap to Pay is coming soon. It's a newer product with a smaller integration list than Jobber or Housecall Pro. There's no free plan. The phone system and AI receptionist are Business only, and the AI receptionist takes booking requests for you to confirm rather than booking on its own.
$1 for 14 days, then $19/mo. Crew and Business are billed at full price from day one.
Best fit for: Claver is built for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and garage door shops. Already running on Housecall Pro? Here's how to move your data over.
