Do I need Jobber if I have QuickBooks?

Not always. If you work alone, have a handful of jobs a week and your main worry is clean books, QuickBooks Online may be all you need. Add field service software when booking, scheduling, quoting and keeping a crew on track start eating your evenings.

  • QuickBooks alone can work when jobs are few, you book them by phone, and you mostly need bookkeeping, expenses and tax-ready reports.
  • Field service software helps when customers want to book online, you send quotes that need approval, you route more than one person, or you want customers to see their jobs and invoices in one place.
  • Using both. The usual setup is field service software for the work and QuickBooks Online for the books, with a sync between them. On Jobber, that sync starts on Connect.

Is QuickBooks better than Jobber?

Neither is better, because they aren't built for the same job. QuickBooks Online is the stronger choice for accounting, and Jobber is the stronger choice for booking and running field work. Most service businesses with a crew end up comparing field service apps and keeping QuickBooks for the books.

  • QuickBooks Online is built for bookkeeping, expense categorizing, accountant access, inventory and purchase orders on Plus, and batch invoices and workflow automation on Advanced.
  • Jobber is built for requests and online booking, quotes, invoices and a client hub on every plan, with routing, GPS and automated client notifications from Connect, and two-way texting and job costing from Grow.

Is there a cheaper field service app that syncs with QuickBooks?

Claver syncs with QuickBooks Online on its Crew plan at $39/mo with 8 users included. Claver is field service software for small home-service businesses: scheduling, quotes, invoicing, payments and customer texting, with users included in one flat monthly price.

  • Plans. Starter is $19/mo for 2 users, Crew is $39/mo for 8 and Business is $79/mo for 20. QuickBooks Online sync starts on Crew, along with routing, job costing and two-way texting.
  • Where it's weaker. Native iOS and Android apps are coming soon, so today it runs as an installable web app. Tap to Pay is coming soon. It's a newer product with a smaller integration list than Jobber or Housecall Pro, and it doesn't sync with Xero. There's no free plan. The phone system and AI receptionist are Business only, and the AI receptionist takes booking requests for you to confirm rather than booking on its own.

$1 for 14 days, then $19/mo. Crew and Business are billed at full price from day one.
