Best scheduling and dispatch software for service businesses (2026)

The best scheduling and dispatch software depends on crew size and how your jobs are routed. Jobber and Housecall Pro are established all-in-one apps, ServiceM8 has a free plan for one user, GorillaDesk prices by route instead of by user, and Claver includes 8 users with dispatch and routing for $39/mo. Connecteam schedules shifts and tracks time but is not a full field service app.

Claver makes this page, and Claver is one of the options. Competitor prices come from each company's own pricing page, checked September 27, 2026.

What is the best scheduling software for a service business?

No single scheduling app is best for every shop. A solo operator mostly needs a calendar and online booking, while a crew needs a dispatch board, GPS and route optimization, which many apps put on a higher plan. The table puts seven options side by side.

Last verified September 27, 2026 from each company's public pricing page: Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceM8, Workiz, Connecteam and GorillaDesk. Housecall Pro shows its prices after a short quiz about your trade and team size; the figures here are from its HVAC result. Jobber was running a limited-time discount when we checked, so the figures here are its regular rates. Connecteam prices are for its Operations Hub. Prices change, so check the source before you buy.

Which plan includes dispatch, GPS tracking and route optimization?

On most apps, the calendar and online booking come on the entry plan, and GPS tracking and route optimization sit one or two plans higher. The table shows the first plan where each vendor's own pricing page lists each feature. "Not listed" means the pricing page doesn't show it, not that the product can't do it.

From each vendor's public pricing page, checked September 27, 2026. Workiz lists recurring jobs on every plan, Genius Scheduling from Pro and multi-day jobs on Ultimate, but its plan table has no rows for these four features. Housecall Pro has a separate vehicle GPS tracking page, but its pricing page doesn't tie GPS to a plan.

How we compared these tools

We compared published prices, plan limits and features on each vendor's own site on September 27, 2026. We did not test the apps hands-on or survey their users, so nothing here ranks tools on ease of use or support. Where a company publishes no price, we say so instead of estimating one.

Six of the seven tools are field service apps that schedule and dispatch jobs to customers' addresses. Connecteam is included because owners often weigh it for scheduling crews, but it is a workforce app, and we say where that matters. Claver's plan details come from Claver's own product.

What does each scheduling and dispatch app offer?

Each profile covers what the tool is, who it suits, what it costs and one real tradeoff. Every price is the vendor's own published figure, or marked quote only when the vendor doesn't publish one.

Claver

Claver is field service software for small home-service businesses: scheduling, quotes, invoicing, payments and customer texting, with users included in one flat monthly price. Starter ($19/mo, 2 users) covers scheduling: a calendar view, arrival windows such as 8 to 10 AM, online booking that shows real open slots, and job confirmations customers answer by text. Crew ($39/mo, 8 users) adds dispatch: a drag-and-drop dispatch board, a live map, GPS tracking with breadcrumb playback, route optimization, crews you assign as a unit, a job offer flow techs can claim from, a shift scheduler and time clock, time-off requests, SMS appointment reminders, multi-day jobs, Google Calendar sync and an "on my way" text with a live tracking link. Business ($79/mo, 20 users) adds smart dispatch suggestions that fill out a day and dispatch filtered by tech skills.

Tradeoff: Dispatch, GPS and routing start on Crew, not the $19 plan. Native iOS and Android apps, Tap to Pay and offline mode are coming soon; today Claver is a web app you install from the browser. It is a newer product with a smaller integration list than Jobber or Housecall Pro, and there is no free plan: it is $1 for 14 days, then $19/mo. The phone system and AI receptionist are on Business only, and the AI receptionist takes booking requests for you to confirm rather than booking on its own.

Jobber

Jobber is an all-in-one app for home service pros to book jobs, quote, invoice and grow. Online booking and a client hub are on every plan, including Core at $49/mo for one user ($29/mo billed annually). GPS tracking, routing and automated client notifications start on Connect, which is $199/mo for up to 5 users ($149/mo billed annually) or $299/mo for up to 10 ($229/mo billed annually). It has native iOS and Android apps, and you can try it free without a card.

Tradeoff: Core is for one user, so a crew starts at a team price, and GPS and routing aren't on Core at all. Two-way texting starts on Grow, which is $299/mo for up to 5 users ($229/mo billed annually).

Housecall Pro

Housecall Pro is an all-in-one platform for residential and commercial pros. Its pricing page lists Basic at $79/mo for one user with online booking, scheduling and dispatch, estimates and invoicing. Essentials ($229/mo for one user) adds job costing and QuickBooks Online sync, and Max ($349/mo) adds route optimization. The page shows prices after a short quiz about your trade and team size; these are from its HVAC result. It has a free mobile app for iOS and Android and a 14-day free trial with no card.

Tradeoff: Route optimization is only on Max, which is $649/mo for 8 users on the team plan, plus $75/mo per extra user. The Essentials team plan is $299/mo for 5 users, plus $100/mo per extra user.

ServiceM8

ServiceM8 puts scheduling, job cards, quoting, invoicing and online bookings on every plan, including a free plan for one user and 30 jobs a month. Paid plans include unlimited users and are priced by jobs per month: Starter $29/mo (50 jobs), Growing $79/mo (150), Premium $149/mo (500) and Premium Plus $349/mo (1,500 or more). It offers a 14-day free trial with no card and no lock-in contract.

Tradeoff: Price follows job volume, so a busy shop pays more as jobs grow, and texts over each plan's monthly cap cost extra. Its full app is built for iPhone; Android users get ServiceM8 Lite with the core field features.

Workiz

Workiz sells three plans: Standard for growing teams, Pro for mid-size teams and Ultimate for multi-location companies and franchises. Recurring jobs, a client portal and QuickBooks Online sync are on every plan. Genius Scheduling, multi-location management and roles and permissions start on Pro, and multi-day jobs, checklists and franchise management are on Ultimate. It offers a 7-day free trial with no card.

Tradeoff: Workiz publishes no prices, so you request a quote for each plan. Its phone system (Genius Phone) and AI answering (Genius Answering) are sold separately.

Connecteam

Connecteam is a mobile workforce app for deskless and field teams, sold as separate hubs. Its Operations Hub covers a GPS time clock, job scheduling with open shifts, forms and checklists. The Small Business Plan is free for up to 10 users across all hubs. Paid Operations plans cover the first 30 users: Basic is $35 a month ($29 billed yearly), Advanced is $59 a month ($49 billed yearly) and adds repeating shift templates and geofenced sites, and Expert is $119 a month ($99 billed yearly) and adds auto-assigned shifts and API access. Basic adds $1/mo for each user past 30 on monthly billing, and paid plans have a 14-day free trial with no card.

Tradeoff: Connecteam is not a full field service app. Its Operations Hub plans list no quotes, invoicing or customer payments, and no online booking for customers, so a service business still needs another tool to sell and bill the work.

GorillaDesk

GorillaDesk prices by route rather than by user. Basic is $49/mo for one route and Pro is $99/mo, and each extra route on Basic adds $50/mo. Admin users and mobile devices are unlimited, and only people assigned to a schedule need a paid seat. Basic includes routing for up to 25 stops; Pro adds routing with Drive Matrix, GPS device tracking, online booking, a customer portal and QuickBooks Online sync. Plans are month-to-month with no setup fee, you can freeze your account in a slow season, and data migration is free.

Tradeoff: GPS tracking and online booking need Pro, and Basic's routing tops out at 25 stops. The Growth plan's price showed inconsistently on the pricing page when we checked, so confirm it with GorillaDesk before you buy.

Which scheduling and dispatch software should you choose?

Choose by crew size and by whether you run routes or one-off jobs. A solo operator can start free or for under $50 a month. A crew that needs a dispatch board, GPS and route optimization should compare the plan that has them, which is often not the entry plan.

  • Solo operator. ServiceM8's free plan works under 30 jobs a month. Claver Starter ($19/mo, 2 users) adds online booking with real open slots and arrival windows, and Jobber Core is $49/mo ($29/mo billed annually).
  • Small crew that needs dispatch and GPS. Claver Crew is $39/mo for 8 users with a dispatch board, GPS and routing. Jobber Connect is $199/mo for up to 5 users ($149/mo billed annually). Housecall Pro includes dispatch on Basic, but its team plans start at $299/mo for 5 users.
  • Route-based recurring work. Lawn care, pest control, pool service and cleaning routes need route optimization and recurring jobs. GorillaDesk prices per route, and Claver and Jobber include route optimization from Crew and Connect. Our guide to lawn care routing software goes deeper.
  • Scheduling staff, not customer jobs. If you mostly need shifts, a time clock and checklists, Connecteam's free plan covers up to 10 users. You'll still need another app for quotes and invoices.
  • Larger or multi-location companies. Workiz puts multi-location management on Pro and franchise management on Ultimate, and sells by quote.

What should you look for in scheduling and dispatch software?

Look for a calendar the whole crew can see, a way for customers to book real open times, and reminders that cut no-shows. Then check which plan has GPS and route optimization, how techs use it in the field, and how the price grows as you add people or routes.

  • A dispatch view of the whole day. A drag-and-drop board or map lets you move jobs between techs when someone calls in sick or a job runs long.
  • Online booking with real availability. A booking form should only offer times you can cover, so you aren't calling customers back to reschedule.
  • Arrival windows and reminders. A two-hour window, a reminder text and an "on my way" message mean fewer locked gates and missed visits.
  • GPS and route optimization on the plan you'll buy. Both often start one plan above the entry price. Compare the price of the plan that has them.
  • Recurring and multi-day jobs. Weekly routes and jobs that run several days should repeat or span days without being re-entered.
  • The app your techs will use. Some tools have native iOS and Android apps, others run as a web app you install from the browser. Try it on your crew's phones, including any Android phones, during the trial.
  • How the price grows. Tools charge per user, per route, per job or a flat price for a set number of users. Price your crew as it will be a year from now.

Scheduling and dispatch software FAQ

What is scheduling and dispatch software?
Scheduling and dispatch software puts every job on a shared calendar and sends each one to the right tech. The office sees the whole crew's day, moves jobs when plans change and texts customers reminders. Techs see their next job, address and notes on their phone. Most field service apps bundle it with quotes, invoicing and payments.
What is the best scheduling app for a service business?
It depends on crew size. For one person, ServiceM8's free plan, Claver Starter ($19/mo) or Jobber Core ($49/mo) cover a calendar and online booking. For a crew that needs a dispatch board, GPS and routing, compare Claver Crew ($39/mo for 8 users), Jobber Connect ($199/mo for up to 5 users) and GorillaDesk, which charges per route. Workiz sells by quote.
How much does scheduling and dispatch software cost?
Entry prices run from free (ServiceM8 for one user, Connecteam for up to 10 users) to $79/mo for Housecall Pro Basic. Claver starts at $19/mo, ServiceM8's paid plans at $29/mo, GorillaDesk at $49/mo per route and Jobber at $49/mo. GPS and route optimization often cost more: Jobber Connect is $199/mo for up to 5 users, and Housecall Pro puts routing on Max at $349/mo for one user.
Is there free scheduling software for a service business?
ServiceM8 has a free plan for one user and 30 jobs a month, with scheduling, quoting and invoicing. Connecteam's Small Business Plan is free for up to 10 users, but it schedules staff and tracks time rather than billing customers. Others offer trials: 14 days on Housecall Pro and ServiceM8, 7 on Workiz, and Jobber lets you try it free without a card. Claver is $1 for 14 days, then $19/mo.
What is a good job scheduling app for contractors?
A contractor who works alone mostly needs a calendar, online booking and reminders tied to quotes and invoices. Claver Starter is $19/mo for 2 users with arrival windows and booking that shows real open slots. Jobber Core is $49/mo for one user, and ServiceM8 is free for up to 30 jobs a month. Once you add a crew, look for a dispatch board and GPS on the plan you'd buy.
Should I use Connecteam to schedule my service business?
Use Connecteam if your main need is scheduling employees, tracking hours with a GPS time clock and running checklists. It is free for up to 10 users. It is not a full field service app: its Operations Hub plans list no quotes, invoicing, customer payments or online booking. A business that books and bills customers usually needs a field service app, with or without Connecteam alongside it.
Is Jobber better than Housecall Pro for scheduling and dispatch?
Neither is better for every shop. Housecall Pro lists scheduling and dispatch on Basic ($79/mo for one user) but puts route optimization on Max. Jobber puts GPS tracking and routing on Connect, $199/mo for up to 5 users, against $299/mo for Housecall Pro's 5-user Essentials plan. Compare the plan that has the dispatch tools you need, or read our Jobber vs Housecall Pro comparison.
Which dispatch software doesn't charge per user?
Claver includes 2, 8 or 20 users in flat plans of $19, $39 and $79 a month, with dispatch from Crew. ServiceM8's paid plans include unlimited users and charge by jobs per month. GorillaDesk charges per route and lets you add unlimited admin users. Connecteam's paid plans cover the first 30 users. Housecall Pro's team plans add $100/mo or $75/mo for each extra user.
